Location SOSM AGM 2018

There are currently three realistic suggestions for the location of the upcoming AGM (April 7th) - Basel-Stadt - Lucerne - Solothurn If you have a preference, or a possible venue in one of the cities, please speak up. I would like to have a definitive solution by the end of this week. Simon

Invitation SOSM Annual General Meeting / Einladung SOSM Generalversammlung April 8th 2017 Fribourg

Dear SOSM members As already indicated the 2017 AGM will take place in Fribourg on April the 8th, 11:00. The venue is at the University Fribourg, Geography Unit, Room 226, Chemin du Musée 4 Many thanks to the Geography Department of the University for supporting us. The location can be found here: http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/138363300#map=18/46.79370/7.15680 and instructions on how to get there are here: http://www.unifr.ch/geoscience/geographie/en/general-information The event will follow our proven formula with a roughly one hour formal part starting at 11:00, with lunch following and a fairly unstructured mapping party as the activity in the afternoon from 13:30 onwards. Guests, including such that simply want to learn something about OpenStreetMap, are welcome to both parts. Could however both members and guests indicate to info(a)sosm.ch if they plan to attend, particularly for lunch, so that we can inform the restaurant how many guests they can expect. RPAS school

Dear Fellow Mappers, I would like to share information about one of the first RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft System) schools in Europe, Fly & Film SA <http://www.rpas-school.com/>. The school is situated in the town of Sierre <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sierre> in the canton of Valais. I studied for one week at this school and received a RPAS pilot certificate (1). The course was in French language, and the certificate is in two languages French and English, since the latter is the de facto language of civil aviation. I fly RPAS for quite a while already, nevertheless this training was interesting and useful. Among instructors were helicopter & RPAS pilots, a director of an international airport, an ornithologist. Five days of intensive training were followed by a theoretical exam and a practical (piloting) exam, which I passed both successfully. It is mentioned in the certificate that the piloting exam was with and without GPS stabilization, and that is why the certificate has got a "no restrictions" clause (fr. Restrictions: aucune). We studied legal and insurance issues, environment protection, general aviation topics, meteorology, maintenance and safety. The practical training was focused on precision flying, safety procedures, etc. I fly mostly to produce oblique low-altitude aerial photographs, which I add to the OSM map via an /image/ tag. You can see how much additional information provides such an aerial image on an example of the UEFA headquarters (2) on the map or a Colovray Stadium in Nyon (3) (the clickable /image/ link is in the left part of a page). Perhaps, there are other approaches of using RPAS for mapping and data fusion. In this respect I think it would be a good idea to create in future an OSM Aviation working group, similar to the HOT Aviation working group, but for general mapping, not only for mapping of disaster areas. AGM 2016 / GV 2016 Point 9 Vote on the OSMF Local Chapter agreement / Punkt 9 Abstimmung über den OSMF Local Chapter Vertrag

As a reminder: we will be voting on signing the OSMF local chapter agreement http://wiki.osmfoundation.org/wiki/Local_Chapters/Template_agreement at the AGM. As mentioned before the OSMF has accepted our application and is ready to sign the agreement once we are ready. Given the limited amount of time we have at the meeting it would be preferable if you could read the agreement before hand and if possible pose any questions here in advance. Zur Erinnerung: an der GV werden wir über die Unterzeichnung eines Vertrages http://wiki.osmfoundation.org/wiki/Local_Chapters/Template_agreement mit der OSMF über den Status eine "OSMF local chapters" abstimmen. Wie bereits schon erwähnt hat die OSMF unseren Antrag dazu angenommen und wäre bereit den Vertrag mit uns zu unterzeichnen. Da wir an der GV nur begrenzt Zeit haben, wäre es von Vorteil wenn der Text schon vor der Sitzung gelesen würde und, falls möglich, allfällige Fragen dazu schon vorher hier gestellt würden. Simon

Dear SOSM members As already indicated the 2016 AGM will take place in Sankt Gallen on April the 2nd, 11:00. The venue is the Hotel am Spisertor, Moosbruggstrasse 1, 9000 St. Gallen. The event will follow our proven recipe with a roughly one hour formal part starting at 11, with lunch following and a fairly unstructured mapping party as the activity in the afternoon. Guests are welcome to both parts, could however both members and guests indicate to info(a)sosm.ch if they plan to intend, particularly for lunch so that we can indicate to the restaurant how many guests they can expect. Pre-announcement 2016 AGM - Saturday, April the 2nd 2016

Dear SOSM members As every year we will have our annual general meeting in the 1st half of the year. Our plan is to convene on Saturday, April the 2nd, most likely in Sankt Gallen. A formal announcement and invitation will follow in a couple of days, we however still need to find a suitable venue, if any of you have a suggestions could you please send it to me asap (typically we have been around 20 attendees, if you intend to come, an informal notice to me would be a good idea). Other points for the meeting that we can already pre-announce: - Pascal will be stepping down as treasurer and we will need a replacement, stepping in Pascals footsteps will be really easy given the good work he has done, and the quite positive state of our financials. If you have a minimal working knowledge of accounting please consider volunteering for the position. - As discussed at the last AGM the SOSM board submitted an application for OSMF local chapter status which in the mean time has been accepted by the OSMF board. As promised we will be holding a vote at the AGM on the matter before actually signing the agreement.
